The Children’s Garden Preschool Program has successfully met the requirements for licensure by the state of Virginia.
Title 63.1, Chapter 10 of the Code of Virginia gives the Virginia Department of Education authority to license preschool programs. Licensing standards assure that these programs provide safe care. Standards require criminal record checks and minimum qualifications for staff. They also specify certain health precautions, equipment, programming, play space, record keeping, and ratios of children per staff member. In addition, facilities are required to meet applicable health, fire, and building codes. Department of Education licensing staff make announced and unannounced visits to determine compliance with standards.
