It was an “eggcellent” week here in the Kindergarten Superstars. The class had a lot of fun learning about various kinds of birds, where they live, and how they build their homes. After learning a bit about our feathered friends, the class went on a nature walk to build their own kindergarten sized nest! When asked “if you could be a bird, which kind would you be?” most of the class answered that they wanted to be a peacock either because of how colorful the bird is, or because of the way it fans it’s tail.
The theme of the week also carried over into crafts where they used feathers as paint brushes to create beautiful works of art.
For math we talked about 3 dimensional shapes and the kids really enjoyed finding cylinders, spheres, and cones in our room and out on the playground.
Finally, we capped off the week with a field trip to Claytor Lake State Park, where we had a ranger come speak to us about the wildlife found at the park and show the kids how to identify various birds and helped them see which bird they would be based on wingspan. It was a fun and full day.
That’s all of this week! Stay tuned for communication week.
