The Children's Garden

Wisdom begins with wonder

Bluebirds :: Week 10

Hello, Bluebird Families!

This week we kept our schedule a little more flexible so we could play outside when it wasn’t raining. We had a lot of fun getting pretty muddy sometimes, so thanks so much for doing extra laundry and replenishing your child’s supply of extra clothes at school. If you haven’t already, you’ll want to change out the extra shorts for pants, as the weather is getting cooler. Heavy coats, hats, gloves are also handy to have at school (even if they travel home at the end of each day), so your kiddo can stay warm while we enjoy the outdoors.

We continued reading Charlotte’s Web, following Wilbur and Charlotte on their friendship journey. We love to draw or build with Legos to keep our hands busy while we listen to the story. We also read several books about fall, like Why Do Leaves Change Color? and I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves! Speaking of leaves, we painted leaves and pressed them onto paper to make leaf prints, did some leaf rubbings with crayons, and used acorn tops to paint some fun patterns. We also did some other super secret art work this week, but that’s all I can say about that! You’ll have to wait until the art show to know more! 😉

We have been getting very creative with our block play, making all kinds of things and telling so many interesting stories as we build and play! We also enjoyed some sensory play with the water table and water beads. We continue to practice our letters and numbers through books, puzzles, games, and fun activities. As always, we had a blast with Marci in music class!

Tuesday we will be heading to Pandapas Pond to take a nature walk and have a picnic! Please remember to dress your child in layers and leave your child’s booster seat at school in the morning.

Thanks for everything you do and for sharing your children with me!
