Hello, Bluebird Families!
We had a wonderful second week of school! We continued learning more about birds and read a fascinating book called, How Do Birds Find Their Way? We even discovered a real bird feather on the playground! Two mornings this week we decided to eat snack outside at the picnic shelter while birdwatching.
We also enjoyed reading books and singing songs about friends. We had great discussions of everyday ways to be safe, kind, and helpful. We practiced using our words to let each other know when we need help or want something to stop. They are doing great and are able to express themselves very well!
We started our September calendar. We sang our “Days of the Week Song,” discussed yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and added the date on the calendar. We will do this every day. We counted to 100 on our number chart, jumping with each number! We were all out of breath afterwards! We studied the concepts of whole and half and practiced dividing food, drawings, and groups of toys in half. We also began studying time and practiced telling time to the hour. They really liked that and often asked, “Can we do the O’Clocks?” Each day we also looked at 2 pages in 1001 Things to Spot from Long Ago, searched for and counted items, and discussed how things were different back then than they are now.
We had so much fun creating with Legos and shape blocks, solving many, many puzzles, and playing tons of games! We played matching games, sequencing games, rhyming games, alphabet games, begining sound word games, and counting games! My favorite puzzle moments included lots of working together and even consulting a solar system book as they solved a solar system puzzle!
We had several special times this week too! On Wednesday, we enjoyed many new songs during our first Music Class with Marci! On Thursday, we had a fun Storytime with Bob. On Friday afternoon we had a blast playing in the water table in the shade outside.
So grateful to spend my days with your children!
