Hello Brilliant Butterflies Families,
We have been busy continuing to learn about winter and especially focusing on ways that animals adapt to survive the harsh conditions. We have been reading lots of winter book, and also, are continuing to enjoy our ice skating rink. Some of our favorite books have been The Bear Snores On, A Loud Winter’s Nap, and Over and Under the Snow. We have done experiments with ice and “blubber”, had fun letting our animals slide across the ice, and talked about melting ice turning back into water. Last Friday, the entire school had a lovely time creating ice skating small worlds to take home. Every single one turned out beautiful, and the children were so proud of their work!
This week we are continuing to focus on how animals adapt, hibernate, or migrate. The children were so interested to discover which animals did what during the winter! Did you know that even bees hibernate?! We have been busy building cozy homes for stuffed animals to hibernate in and watched a video of geese migrating south for winter.
For the remainder of this week, we will have Lauren (from Sally’s class) come over to teach us about Australia. She recently took a trip there and has lots of fun things to share with our class!
