Hello Brilliant Butterflies Families,
I hope you all had a nice weekend! We have been busy and happy in the Brilliant Butterflies class!
I have enjoyed talking with you about your lovely children this past week in our parent teacher conferences. It is great to hear more about the children from those who know them best, their families! We have been having a wonderful year so far and we appreciate all of you so much!
In the past few weeks, we have been working on fall themed projects. We made fall collages, did pine cone weaving, planted pumpkin seeds, carved a jack-o-lantern, helped to erupt pumpkin volcanoes, and built gates for our Five Little Pumpkins poem. We have created art using fall leaves and played with pumpkin pie scented play dough.
We have now switched gears to prepare for our art show, which will be held on Thursday and Friday, November 16 and 17. You will be receiving a formal invitation from your child on a later date. We are studying several famous artists and then making our own interpretations of their art. We will be trying new techniques (e.g. pointillism, splatter painting, and photography), and using some that we already know (e.g. watercolor painting and clay). We will be doing both collaborative and individual artwork. The kids have all really enjoyed it and so have the teachers!
The children have been loving playing in the mud at recess, and we have been very lucky to have great weather for playing outdoors. Please check your child’s spare clothes this week to make sure they have weather appropriate attire.
Thanks so much to all of you,
Hannah, Shelby, and Wynne
