This week was communication week part II in the Kindergarten Superstars, and we had a lot to talk about! The focus of the week for communication was how communication can break down between sender and receiver in conversations. This meant the class did a lot of practice with making requests in a kind manner asking specifically for what they wanted, and also repeating back to me requests that I made of them to see if what I’m saying is what they are hearing.
We also had a lot of fun learning about patterns in math and worked on sudoku! The kids really enjoyed this. The superstars also honed their decoding skills as they completed a sight-word jumble where they had to reconstruct the sight-words of the week that had been jumbled together. The class thoroughly enjoyed giving each sight-word a personality as they put the letters back in the right order for this activity!
We also celebrated Earth Day. The kids had some great ideas about ways that we can help the earth and it was wonderful to see how much thought they put into it.
This week also saw the Superstars completing their last group painting together. It was bitter-sweet that this was their last one, but it turned out beautifully and they were really happy with the outcome.

Finally, it’s the time of year where we look ahead to the class plays at the end of the year, so we started working on the costumes and the lines for our end-of the year production. Otherwise we tried to spend as much time outside as possible given the nice weather!
That’s it for now. See you next week for Music Week!
