Greetings! It has been a fun and busy week here in the Kindergarten classroom. This week the students honed their artistic skills by creating self-portraits. They also got to spend plenty of time outside and loved reading under one of our many trees. This week also saw the welcoming of our new class pet who the students named Oreo Cottontail. We also had great fun setting up a “doctor’s office” in our classroom where the students got the chance to take turns donning the lab coat and stethoscope, checking weights and measurements and filling out the forms. For music the students learned a little about the life and music of Mozart and were astonished that his first composition was when he was just five-years-old. The class also discussed many things during our circle time including “what is kindness” and “what are you excited to learn this school year”. They also had great fun in language reviewing letters, phonics, and being introduced to a few sight words. Finally, for math the students have used various games and movement songs to review numbers 1-100. All this on top of playing outside and enjoying creative free play and stories indoors! We’re excited to see where this year takes us.
