The Children's Garden

Wisdom begins with wonder

Friendly Foxes; Nov. 30th – Dec. 4th

We spent this week celebrating our family and furry friends. Monday was the 1st of December. It was fun placing the number “1” on our calendar during morning circle, students are definitely excited about the approaching holiday! And since it was D-cember and we practiced our letter “D” at morning centers.

and the We journaled Monday about our favorite Thanksgiving foods, drawing pictures of our Mom, Dad, or siblings, and we were sure not forget our loyal pets.

But wait, the best part about Monday morning was our first dusting of SNOW! We filled some bins with it and used it for an early morning sensory activity.

Our Friendly Foxes were especially excited about telling us about their furry (and not so furry) friends: dogs, cats, snakes, hamsters, turtles, lizards, and fish. The children enjoyed art lessons this week during centers this week. We learned how to draw a cat and dog face!

As always morning free play gives our Foxes a chance to build social skills, engage in pretend play, and the time to explore prompts I have set up in the room.

He is a look at some morning and afternoon centers we had set up this week. The kids explored science with Mr. Clayton rescuing pretend dogs and cats frozen in ice cubes using water and salt. Kids engaged in fine motor skills and hand eye coordination using the pipette.

I made some peppermint scented white play dough to get into the holiday spirit. We practiced making snowmen taking time to roll our big, medium, and small sized balls. We also have foxes who like to use cookie cutters during play dough play.

As we continue to recognize our alphabet letters and learn the sounds they make, they enjoy the letters in their name the most!

Cool weather does not stop us from going outside. The kids have a favorite tree the love to climb and “peek-a-boo” through. What a magical week! I look forward to spending the next two weeks with your children before we break and return for 2021.
