We have had another busy week of playing, reading, and creating together! We are starting to see the children getting more comfortable with each other and the teachers, as well as, gaining confidence in our classroom routines. We are still taking things slow, so that we can create a caring and close community of learners in our class.
This week we have continued talking about ourselves and our families. We made pictures of our families for our journals, read books and talked about what we like to do with our families for fun, and created beautiful self portraits for our bulletin board. Some of our friends will be working on their art this week. We have experimented with building houses for animals and people using blocks, play dough, and other various building materials. We have continued enjoying Mo Willems books, especially the Knuffle Bunny series!
We had our first music class with Ms. Marci on Wednesday, and the children and teachers had so much fun singing and dancing with her! We will continue having music class every Wednesday from 9:30-10. We also had our special guest reader, Storytime Bob, to visit on Thursday. He has been reading to the Children’s Garden students for years, and comes most Thursdays to read to the children after recess.
This week, we will begin our study of caterpillars and butterflies, since we have one in our classroom! We will create art, read books, and observe and ask questions about these amazing creatures together throughout the week.
Thanks again for a wonderful week!
Hannah, Wynne, and MaryAnne 🙂
