Hello, Friendly Foxes!
We have had a wonderful and fun-filled time in school this week. We were finally able to mail or class letter and cards to Jan Brett. We began our study of the Antarctic region, enjoyed Valentine’s day together and then celebrated the 100th day of school!
We looked at the Antarctic region on the globe and discussed the differences between the Antarctic and Arctic regions. We read books about Antarctica at circle, learned about the seven different species of penguins that live there, and discussed some of the interesting behaviors. We love how much the father penguins care for the eggs and babies while the mother penguins go out hunting. We learned a sweet song about penguins and illustrated it in our special journals, made several different penguin crafts, including our silly macaroni penguins which are now hanging in the hallway. We played with Antarctic penguins and seals in lots of different sensory materials, played a new matching game with partners, and played a new interactive feed-the-hungry-penguin game.
We had a sweet time on Valentine’s day sharing a tea party with friends and stuffed animals, enjoyed a lovely fruit smoothie courtesy of Sally, made beautiful Valentines to share with our families, strung beaded hearts, and played in with Valentine “soup.” We also enjoyed lots of 100th day of school activities including a fun scavenger hunt, an action game, 100s pattern building with friends, and a special show and tell day. We even got to play with the parachute outside! We enjoyed another wonderful music class with Marci and Thursday Storytime with Bob.
Next week we will spend a few more days exploring Antarctica. School is closed on Monday in observance of President’s Day. We will have a popcorn and pajama day on Friday for fun!
Thank you for all you do!
Wynne, Sadée, and Lori (and Hannah)
