Hello, Friendly Foxes!
We hope you all have had a lovely and relaxing Spring Break. Here’s hoping for lots of playground-friendly sunshine!
We spent the last week continuing our owl unit, branching out to study more species. We were treated to a guest speaker, a real ornithologist who gave an amazing and entertaining presentation about owls. The children were thrilled! We also put on our goggles and gloves and dissected several real owl pellets and inspected them for bones, just like real ornithologists. The children were experts at matching the bones up to our identification charts. They loved this project. Our findings are just inside the classroom door if you would like to take a look at them with your child. We watched videos of the Burrowing Owls who live in Florida and thoroughly enjoyed the way they can flip their heads upside down! We enjoyed making lots of owl crafts together as well. Thank you to Marci for a wonderful music class and to Bob for a great Storytime.
Next week we will began our Oceanography unit. We are ready to build the oceanic zones on our bulletin board and fill them with creatures as we learn about them. There is also now a small ocean in the library area, complete with sailboats in which the children may sit and enjoy reading books.
Thank you for all you do!
Wynne, Sadée, and Lori (and Hannah)
