We had a fun week continuing our study of rainbows, colors, and light. We also added in some learning about weather and rain. The children finished their group color wheel collage project and had a great time noticing primary and secondary colors. They sorted lots of colorful items into trays, color wheels, and various containers. They also started working on several science projects to prepare for our science expo this week. We saw how colorful water can travel through paper towels to mix and make every color of the rainbow. We also grew crystals on a rainbow using borax! The children learned to mix colored paint and colored water to make new colors. They also played with our new light table and magnatiles and rainbow blocks to mix colors with light. They have made fizzy rainbows with baking soda and colorful vinegar and played with play dough and kinetic sand too!
We took a class nature walk one day, and the children collected items from nature to create a painting collage project back at school. These turned out beautifully, and the children had fun using the materials in different ways to create their art.
We also talked about rain and storms because we had a rainy week! The children had a fun music class and enjoyed playing with and hearing stories from Story time Bob.
At the end of this week is our Science Expo (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). If you have time, you are invited to come into the classroom at the morning drop off to see some of the science projects that our class has been working on. We will have several science activities set up on the tables that you may try with your child. This is a casual walk through event, and if you are not able to come it is ok. The children will still be able to participate in repeating some of their favorite science activities that we have done in class.
Thank you again for all that you do!
Sincerely,
Hannah, Wynne, and Sadee 🙂
