We had a fun week learning about spring and starting our fairy tale unit! The children have still been interested in worms, so we took some time to talk about worms, watched a video about them, and made some worm craft projects. We went on a dandelion hunt and collected beautiful nature items and created nature collage projects. This has become one of our favorite projects to do as a class!
We then started talking about fairy tales! We read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and created a class beanstalk, built “castles in the clouds” with shaving cream and blocks, and played a magic beans counting game. We also read the story of the Three Little Pigs and created three houses for our bulletin board, built houses from straws, sticks, and “bricks” and tried to blow them down, and drew and painted our own pictures of pigs! We also studied the story of Golilocks and the three bears. We created a 3 bears craft, played in sensory bins, and built different sized chairs and beds for the bears. We have been reading a kid friendly version of each fairytale, as some of the official fairytales have not so nice endings.
This week we will be continuing our study of fairy tales and beginning to work on our class play!
Thanks so much for all that you do with your children!
