The Children's Garden

Wisdom begins with wonder

Honey Bees :: Week Seven

Dear Honey Bee families,

I love that we could brave the rain and flooding and continue to come to school last week. Our class started talking about apples and orchards. On Tuesday we peeled and chopped apples for applesauce, and on Wednesday I brought in a pie made with the leftovers. We looked at the inside of the apples, talked about the star, and the children decided that the apples definitely had “beans” inside. This week we’ll make applesauce again on Wednesday.. and pie on Thursday if we are lucky.

We’ll do a math investigation with the book Ten Apples Up on Top, read books about Johnny Appleseed, and learn a poem about apples.

I know that Kiyah sent out an email about this, but make sure that you walk your child into the classroom in the morning and make eye contact with one of us. We need a clear transfer of care as children are washing hands, helping set up their snack baskets, and saying their goodbyes in the morning. As always, you are welcome in our room during the morning…and any time.
