It was a fun and windy week here in the Kindergarten classroom during plant week! The class had fun learning about photosynthesis, what all plants need to grow, and about various types of plants. When the class found out that plants “breath in” carbon dioxide they immediately went to an aloe plant that we have in our classroom and started breathing on it “so that it can have enough air”. They are such a thoughtful group!
As part of plant week the students selected and planted some seeds they brought from home. They are very excited to see how their plants grow! Additionally, the student brought a fruit or vegetable of their choice to share with the class for an “eating of the greens”. They were very proud of their healthy eating.
We also learned about the life and work of Frida Kahlo, and the class worked together on her watermelon painting. After all of this art fun we went on a nature walk where the class decided it was time to hibernate since it’s still winter!
For math, the students greatly enjoyed playing sudoku while they learned about patterns. They also just started reading the Bob books and they are very proud of their hard work!
