The Meow Cats cuddled koalas and sniffed eucalyptus. Eucalytus trees are also called gum trees… the tree in the Kookaburra song we sing. We listened to the sounds of the digeridoo and made our own rain sticks. Tomorrow may be our last day in Australia. We will “sew” our own kangaroo pouches and go for a scavenger hunt for the letter K in our classroom.
On Sunday I turned our kitchen into a vet’s office and animal adoption center. We love to take care of animals and play doctor. We’ll continue to add to this dramatic play center. We’ll talk about animals large and small. Today we talked about vet’s that work in an office and vets that travel to farms to take care of larger animals. We looked at some xrays and tried to identify the animals from their skeletons. We’d like to build an x-ray machine for our vet area.
We welcomed Isla’s brother Henry into our circle today. He has waiting so long to be old enough to go to school! I hope we lived up to his expectations.
Housekeeping: A lot of my friends need warm gloves for going outside. We won’t keep them out long if it is very cold, but we love to go out twice a day.
