We are in the midst of writing our play, and I think we’ll wrap up our story tomorrow. It’s pretty amazing, just like the Meow Cats. We’ve been writing and revising our story for more than a week now. This week we are anxiously awaiting the hatching of our chicks. Seriously, we are parenting hard. Our eggs are warm, being turned every hour, and we are keeping the humidity high. Most of the eggs feel strangely light, a big sign that there are chicks in there. You can ask your child about the how our chicks are growing. We watched our development video today, and our chicks have scales and tail feathers. Ask your child when our chicks are going to PIP, and ask them how the chick is going to get out. What kind of special tool does the chick have on her beak? An egg tooth. We’ll have chicks in our room all three days next week. Of course, I can send some chick updates during the summer. I think I’ll keep three.
Speaking of updates, I’ll be taking this tank of tadpoles home as well. A chicken develops in 21 days, but this frog metamorphosis takes 6-9 weeks. I’ll post about their development…and release… here.
We finished up talking about dinosaurs with a massive sort of all of our toy dinosaurs during circle time. Some of the Meow Cats were very tuned in to our fossil dig and were amazed that they were talking home REAL fossils. I do think we’ll do one more dinosaur activity before the end of the week.
We want to read a few more stories this week, create some process art that becomes a very fluffy baby chick, and play one more round of Bug in the Rug. We’ll be paining scenery for our play, and deciding about our costumes.
