The Honeybees are diving deeply into Fall, the art show, books, and our new Italian restaurant. After the quick nosedive into cold temperatures, we are hoping to end the week raking leaf piles and jumping into them.
I wanted to show you the Picasso video that we watched several times this week. After reading a book about Picasso, the class also wants to make their own guitars. I’m gathering supplies. The Honeybees responded to the mood of the music, and one even told me all about Peter and the Wolf.
Their paintings on glass were stunning, and the whole school was clamoring to participate. They would love to use more colors as well, and we can repeat the process indoors over the winter.

I’ll print everyone’s work for the show as well as share digital images, but I want to share this one of three friends holding hands.
I do have smocks, but please wear play clothes that can get painted for the next few weeks. The most vibrant paints are the least washable.
We have been growing so fast that many of the Honeybees would like to have a bigger snack or even two snacks. It seems to happen every year about this time.
Did you hear that all of us can do the “Montessori Flip” and put on our own coats! We are celebrating. As you gather warm cozy things for winter, please don’t send gloves. Imagine getting 80 fingers in the right compartment. Mittens are great. Remember that we do go outside when it is very cold, but we certainly make it a shorter time. You might want to leave a pair of fleece pants in your child’s cubby. The wind seems very strong in our neighborhood, and it makes it seem stronger. We do require that kids keep their coats on at 45 degrees and lower. On extra cold days we may go for a walk or do a guided activity to keep the children moving. I always have extra coats and even snowsuits to keep us cozy.
Happy Monday. As it gets light I see a little snow.
