Dear Families,
Do you remember last fall when we LOST a caterpillar! Sylvia brought in some caterpillars on some parsley (was it parsley?) and then the caterpillars didn’t like the organic parsley from Kroger. The biggest caterpillar escaped never to be found. Until today. Kiyah, Wynne, Anna, and I met today and look who was in our classroom. I’m taking it as a beautiful sign.

These are strange and confusing times for all of us as we are suddenly at home and many of us are away from our routines, our friends, our work, and our social support systems.
The teachers have been brainstorming ways to stay connected with our classes and support our families while we are going through this period of social distancing. I’ve thought about projects that I could send in the mail, share here on the blog, post on our facebook page, and share in our instagram stories. Today I started sharing ideas from educators that I love via Instagram stories, and I’ll try to update that every day.
I’m going to start posting here each day with ideas, videos, a song, or stories for all of us. I want to share some of the things that inspire me and perhaps inspire you to create something new and wonderful with your child. Marci said that she will share some songs here, and we’ll still be learning and playing together. I think I can enable comments, and maybe your child might like to respond or ask questions. Let’s grow this organically. Send me a video of your child’s question and I’ll post it and respond.
I always want to learn more songs, so here’s where we start. I went to a Dan Zanes show in Portland, Oregon when my oldest was two years old, and we’ve been fans ever since. We listen to his album House Party in the Honeybees class when we need a dance party.
When we meet in the circle again I want to sing this with your children.
Big love,
Sally
