The Children's Garden

Wisdom begins with wonder

Playing and Learning at Home :: March 31

Today I’m thinking about art supplies that might already be in your house. Egg cartons, scissors, and paint.

You can also cut out the cut part of the egg carton and use them for stringing.

My own children were lamenting a rainy day today. We have a small house and five of us looking for “office” space. We all vie for the back porch on sunny days. What’s in your rainy day back pocket? I’m thinking about making soup. Does your honeybee like to chop? Here’s a delicious potato soup made with pantry ingredients if you need some cooking inspiration.

Has anyone been doing any birdwatching at home? My birdfeeder is right in front of the kitchen sink, so I get a lot of bird time in. I’m going to go to school tomorrow and get the art journals that we made. I’m going to tuck a few projects inside and then let you know when I can put these in your mailboxes one evening.

I’ve been seeing a lot of bluebirds in my yard, as well as 3 kinds of woodpeckers, cardinals, wrens, and sparrows. My kids left the porch door open, and a wren was in our house. I think it might be the one who likes to build a nest in a cupboard on my back porch each year. I ordered one more bluebird house for the yard, and it arrived today.

I really miss you Honeybees today. For the record, it’s Taco Tuesday.
