Hello, Bluebird Familes!
This week we continued our Arctic adventures! We discovered more about dogsledding, like how dogs work together to pull a dog sled and the very special relationship between mushers and their sled dogs. We learned about the unique ways different arctic animals survive the harsh winters. We researched how igloos are made and how they work to keep people warm. Then we made our own igloos with paper! We read several books about polar bears and made some cute polar bear friends for our classroom. We also read about the aurora borealis, watched a video of the real northern lights, learned why they occur, and drew our own beautiful aurora borealis with colored chalk on black paper. Take a look at the bulletin board directlly across from our classroom door to see your child’s stunning work!
Next week, we will be exploring Antarctica and penguins, as well as beginning a new read aloud story: Mr. Popper’s Penguins! I’m excited to share these experiences with your children! Thank you for sharing your children with me!
