The Bluebirds :: Week 20

Hello, Bluebird Families!

I was so excited to come back to school this week and see my Bluebirds! I missed them while I was sick last week. With so much rain in the forecast, we spent some extra time outside early in the week, enjoying the warmer temperatures. On Monday, we read several very silly books about Groundhog Day and discussed our thoughts on whether the groundhog actually predicts the weather. On Tuesday, we read another whacky weather story, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and dreamed about what foods we wished would fall out of the sky. On Wednesday, we enjoyed music time with Marci and played in Arctic sensory bins. On Thursday, we had a fun storytime with Bob and played in Antarctic sensory bins. We compared the different animals that lived in these places and reminded ourselves of where on the globe they are located. We also celebrated a half birthday of one of our Bluebirds on Thursday. That is always so special! We read about a few Magic School Bus adventures in the Arctic and Antarctic and continued reading Mr. Popper’s Penguins this week. We will finish up our Arctic and Antarctic studies by learning about glaciers on Monday. Then the boys want to start investigating volcanos!

This Friday is Valentine’s Day! Your child is welcome to share a valentine with each of their classmates. They can be made or bought. We’ll make Valentine/ Friendship Day bags in class this week to collect our valentines on Friday. Our two rules are no candy and no opening their bags at school. They’ll go home with your child at the end of the day.

Looking forward to a great week with your children!
