Dear Friendly Fox Families,
Happy New Year! We are excited to see our friends returning to school and to share our stories about what we did over Winter Break.
This past week we talked about all the exciting changes that happened over the break. We have a new month, a new year, and a new theme to learn about. We even have a new student! We also have a new Author of the Month: Jan Brett. We talked about how the Winter season officially began and what changes we can see. We learned lots of interesting facts about snowflake formation. We added a new snow poem in our journals and illustrated it, painted with frozen watercolor ice cubes and had some fun snow-themed sensory play activities. We especially enjoyed our pajama and popcorn day, as well as music with Ms. Marci and storytime with Bob.
We also have two new play spaces in the classroom. We have a cozy “Winter Cabin” with a fireplace for roasting marshmallows and cooking. We also have a new space for the children to play pretend school, an activity they have been enjoying immensely. They are really doing a wonderful job of cooperating, sharing, and taking turns!
This coming week we will continue with our Winter theme and learn about what different animals do in Winter, so we’ll be looking at migration, hibernation, and adaptation. We will also enjoy some some winter games and crafts associated with the wonderful books of Jan Brett.
We continue to send good wishes to Hannah’s family as they prepare for the exciting arrival of their new baby! We are also enjoying welcoming our new teacher, Lori.
Thanks so much!
Wynne, Sadee, and Lori
