We are into our third week of school! It really does take six weeks to settle into the school year routine, and our class is starting to feel the rhythm of the day. This week we started having a calendar kid each day to add the day to our month, and the calendar kid is also the line leader for the day. We are practicing our listening skills, learning to walk in a line, and talking about ways that we take care of our friends.
We discovered the dress up baskets this week and have been playing and coming to circle time dressed as unicorns, dragons, dinosaurs, bees, ladybugs, and even miners. We have been reading stories about caterpillars and butterflies, painting with caterpillar colors, and spending time with our monarchs. Tomorrow we will finish up our mulitlayered caterpillar/butterfly watercolor paintings/collages and make caterpillar necklaces with yellow and green beads (patterns).
We loved our first music class with Marci on Wednesday, and we met Storyman Bob on Thursday, and both of them will be joining us weekly. Theatre Class with Joelle starts Thursday afternoon if you need more information. I’m keeping an eye on the weather and what the MCPS school system is thinking about the weather at the end of the week, and we will let you know if we are considering a weather related closing.
