The Children's Garden

Wisdom begins with wonder

The Honey Bees :: Week 26

This week the Honey Bees started tracing their bodies and creating our own human body maps, but I’m not feeling a big pull from the class to continue. Perhaps we should just dive into spring, rabbits, and baby animals? I just ordered fertile hatching eggs for arrival the week of April 15.

The Honey Bees enjoyed a visit with Allison Keys and her rabbit Belle on Thursday. She is going to return for a chicken celebration next month with her guitar and stories. The rabbit she brought was a blue lop, and the bunny in our kindergarten class is a silver fox. She showed us pictures of Belle’s newborn babies. They look like tiny puppies. Alison talked about how rabbits communicate.

I stopped at the library today for an armload of rabbit, chicken, and baby animal stories. We’ll start talking about eggs and preparing to be chick parents. Is anyone in our class interested in taking some baby chicks home? I have a place they can go, but I’d love for them to go home with one of our families. I’m going to incubate 7 eggs this year.
