The Honey Bees :: Week Four

Dear Honey Bee Families,

I hope you are keeping up with our daily activities on Instagram. Hopefully it can be a visual prompt for talking about school with your child. Our conversations about butterflies are moving towards insects in general, and this week we have been investigating spiders. If you make any interesting insect finds, please bring them in. I’m regretting releasing a praying mantis I found in my bedroom a few days ago.

Friday we’ll start shifting into autumn themes, and we’ll celebrate with dipping apple slices in honey. We are the Honey Bees? In October we’ll talk about apples, pumpkins, the change of seasons, and fall leaves. We’ll talk about plant life cycles, read apple stories, count apples, and learn apple songs and poems. We carve a pumpkin each year into something related to our class name…. a bee or a hive this year. We’ll taste roasted pumpkin seeds and try to grow some of the seeds in our window.
