It has been a joy getting to know these children and their families this week. We have been going slowly and starting to build trust and learn our routines. We have been learning each other’s names by singing funny songs at circle time. Has your child told you that you have a pig on your head? We’ve been putting a little pig on our heads and singing Laurie Berkner’s song of the same name.
We’ve also been singing our Good Morning Song, Caterpillar On My Arm, and of course the Garden Children Song. Tomorrow we have our first music morning with Marci Craig. She always teaches us new songs and inspires me to be a better ukulele player. I love music, so always feel free to let me know what your child’s current favorite songs are, and I’ll share with you what I’ve been playing in the classroom.
In September we’ll be focusing on ourselves and our families, and I’ve been reading books about insects and caterpillars. It’s such a great time of year for bugs. We really enjoyed our praying mantis visitor, so feel free to bring in your nature finds to share with the class. I went on a monarch caterpillar walk tonight and came home empty handed. I’ll try again tomorrow evening. Luckily there was a caterpillar in my dill bundle from Glade Road Growing, so I’m bringing that in tomorrow.
Please remember to bring in a family photograph to display in our classroom. I won’t put them up until everyone has one.
I plan on updating the blog over the weekend each week. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to pull me aside any morning or afternoon, or I have a Honey Bee email at honeybeesthrees@gmail.com.
