It was a busy week beginning with the emergence and release of a beautiful monarch last Monday. It gave us lots of time to look at all those dazzling polka dots and think about the stripes of the monarch caterpillar. On Monday we also made prints with apples and enjoyed a playground visit with our friend Vickie.
On Tuesday we peeled and chopped apples to make our apple sauce. We each peeled an apple with the spiral peeler and chopped with a Montessori rippled knife. We each added a bit of coconut sugar and a pinch of cinnamon.
On Wednesday Marci taught us Sing a Song of Sixpence during music time, and we enjoyed our applesauce with our snack. Sally took home the extra applesauce and apples and baked us a special apple pie the next day. It even had a ceramic blackbird! We enjoyed making pretend apple pies and birthday cakes with our cinnamon playdough this week.
On Friday we visited with a big beautiful boa constrictor named Lilly. They Honey Bees really exhibited their deep love of animals of all kinds, and I’m going to try to find them more hands on experiences like this.
