This past week was weather week, which was pretty ironic given that it was a short school week due to the foot of snow that was dumped on us over the weekend! The class had fun learning about various types of weather conditions, how to keep a weather journal and make predictions based on their weather journal observations, and how to recognize various types of clouds.
The Super Stars have also been listening to a lot of Tchaikovsky lately since some of the class is getting ready to be in the Nutcracker! They really enjoy listening to various compositions and figuring out if they are hearing Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach, or Tchaikovsky.
The students have also been practicing going to various class centers as part of a new routine where they complete their check-in independently, then choose one of the centers (addition, phonics, reading, art, etc.) and work their way independently through the centers.
Next week is Family Week part II — My Roots, where we get to talk about learning their families history. This is a great way for them to learning about what stories and traditions are important to their families.
